Aside from the new members that join TMA and become part of your KIT group, there are other ways to identify and recruit new members locally:

  • Be sure to have local newspapers post notices of your support group meetings.
  • Provide your members with a short one page description of the group and its activities with contact information that your members can take to their physician’s office and ask that it be posted for patients to see.
  • Ask current KIT group members if there are others they know who have the disease and invite them to become members of TMA and the support group.
Plan an awareness event that will get local media coverage and perhaps attract the attention of those with the disease who did not know of the existence of a support group locally.
  • Create a Facebook page and use Facebook and Twitter to provide notices about meetings and activities.
  • Post messages on TMA’s Community Forum about upcoming meetings and inviting new members to join the support group.
  • Provide the short one page description of the group to local seniors centers and ask that it be posted to inform seniors of the availability of your group.
  • Contact your local hospitals to inquire about how to provide notices of your support group meeting to the community.
